- Chapter 1 -

Spotlight on the darkest corner of Broad St alley. As we pan towards the circle of light, movement catches small glints and glimmers off a spray of steel colored flakes. Did a militant fairy collapse in this godforsaken place? Not quite. But if I've learned anything, its that spotlights only appear when a story is full of woeful apologies, major regrets, or drama. So, grab that popcorn, this one could be a train wreck. ;-)

Two-thirty am in Broad St alley. Any average person would be asleep in bed, or at least watching Netflix to pass the time. In the darkness of the alley, the rats and cats bustled about their business, totally unaware that a presence was waking nearby. Just two hours before, a bright light scattered every critter from the vicinity. The drop happened then. A puff of dust; metalicized arms, legs, and torso all in a heap. They were flesh and bone by the sound of the fall, but a technological wonder to behold. The rats and cats didn't care. They continued on with their business.

No more movement was seen in or around Broad St alley that night. Not that anyone could confirm it. If they could, they'd tell us that someone was very sad and in trouble, but wasn't conscious enough to do a thing about it.

Sunlight, it burns. Why must it be so very bright? A crumpled heap of a body thought these thoughts, squinting grey lidded eyes towards a six-am sun. Their face shown like graphite, grey tears from the burning light smeared glitter down their glam-rock facade. I don't remember... much. My fingers? I... tried to move them but... The thoughts trailed off in their mind. Last night's failed attempts to move coming back to them. Best to rest until someone... finds me?

Sparkling in the morning sun, they lie there, bewildered. Try to focus. All I remember are pieces... pieces of me, and sometimes, pieces... of you.
